Ah, the dreaded roving apostrophe. I swear, apostrophes must lead an independent life from the rest of grammar (at least for the illiterati), jumping around, inserting themselves where they are not wanted, yet fleeing where they are needed. Punctuational life must be difficult for apostrophes.

Perhaps we should attempt to interbreed apostrophes and commas, if for no other reason than to see what the illiterati would do with them!

Who knows? The apostromma might become the favorite illiterate punctuation at the forum! With no rules they could be used as a general purpose punctuation when some idiot doesn't know what other key is most appropriate!

I'll get to work on designing the new rules for this new punctuation... right after I invent the cure for cancer.

A thought just dawned upon me. Do all our victims have some form of grammatical cancer? Perhaps that's what's eating at their inability to write comprehensible sentences.

Overheard in the pharmacy:

Customer: Can I get this drug in the genetic version?
Pharmacist: Do you mean the generic version?
Customer: No! I want the genetic version. You know... the one that is cheaper.

At that point I walked away, so that I didn't have to hear any more of that exchange.

All a matter of timing, I'm sure.

on all the posts since my last visit. Y'all are doing a good job. Alas I have no grammatical sins to post today.

I have received PJ's kind offer to copy edit one of my own grammatical blunders in this very topic, and declined the polite offer in order to drive y'all crazy wondering which post it was!

Personally speaking, I'm worried that correcting a post in this topic might cause the classic time travel dilemma, where a person travels back in time and murders their own ancestor. I decided we are all safer by not risking that!

Meanwhile I'll take a visit to the political reprobates section and see if I can find any intelligent posts. Once I eliminate them I'll post the rest here!

SRSLY I think C-D needs a sub-forum on politics restricted to only sane people. No, wait, where's the fun in that? Better to watch the collision between alt-this and alt-that, more material for I can't take it any more.

Color me off, prospecting...
