I saw a turkey vulture in my backyard. My step-dad says they're actually great animals. They help clean up dead circuses.. they look mean, but I can appreciate them doing all the dirty work city workers don't have to do now.
I just have a feeling that the person who posted that statement is one who believes in home schooling.
You know...so that the child can receive a better, more well-rounded education...
I am happy that no one has ever "bibled me hard!" Sounds painful.
I might have to agree with your assessment, Retriever. Those science classes they teach in public schools don't do anybody any good, after all.

Actually, they probably don't. I went to public high school and the teachers knew very little about the subjects they were "teaching." I got into a heated argument with a Biology teacher who insisted ticks are insects. The final resolution of the argument? He states "Well, in my class ticks are insects."
I still remember cringing every morning when the principal would announce the day's activities for "Freshmans."
I got out of that academic hell-hole and never looked back.

I hope you realize that extrapolating your experience in one public high school so that it applies to all public high schools is...not a valid conclusion.

I have many more anecdotes from several other public schools - enough to keep this thread going for quite some time.

I have many more anecdotes from several other public schools. My child never set foot in a public school.
...and I could regale you with tales of the deficiencies that friends of mine experienced when their children attended non-public high schools. However, I have not interpreted their negative experiences with non-public schools to be an indictment of all non-public schools.
Additionally, when we registered out-of-state transfer students at my public high school, most of them struggled with the curriculum, and there was essentially no difference between those who transferred from public high schools and those who transferred from non-public high schools.
Did you see the article about the guy who dropped a laser tape measure weighing 1lbs that dropped, rickshade & killed a guy standing below.
"Rickshade" is a new one, but as a matter of fact, the incident referred to happened last week at a construction site a few blocks from where I work!
