Is it a good idea to contact him by this phone number, offer him $300 to ask him to delete those images? He doesn't seem to be actively using his SoundCloud account now. He's in his 30s. And I am thinking of giving him $100 in advance, and tell him the remaining money will be sent after he deletes them. He may ask for more money, and I am OK with doing some negotiation and pay more.
Don't do any of this.

Do you have a facebook or Linkedin or Instagram account? You need any or all three and for them to present you as not matching what he has. There are potential difference like age or astroligcal sign, place of birth etc or simply a photo of your face

Also you could speak to an experienced resume specialist. They could judge whether it might be a good idea to include some sort of statement explaining as part of a cover letter you are not this other person

There is also no guarantee that he won’t put the photos back up. I think it would be a complete waste of money.

Just make your image show up before his/hers.

^^^ this.
Do you look like him too??

If you pay him, he might remove the pictures and them put them back on again knowing that you would pay much more to have them removed. That might trigger a new idea to post even more embarrassing pictures and blackmail you with them.

I wouldn't worry about that at all.

SoundCloud is an audio distribution platform and music website. Artists pictures are advertising. Shocking poses are to attract viewers. If you aren't that artist, you don't need to worry.

He's a criminal. He would probably put something much worse up and then ask for much more to take it off.

A criminal turned entrepreneur. That's great progress and should be celebrated.

Don't give him any money! That is a ridiculous idea!

Very common that someone else has your same name. Even if your name is unique.

Start using your middle initial in all of your business dealings. Such as "John A. Smith." That other guy might not have the same middle name as you.

And as others have stated, as long as you have a different birthday and since you have your own social security number that is unique, there is nothing to worry about.

Don't keep Googling this. Just forget about it.

If you're set on removing his pictures from the net, don't ask him to do it. Buy the soundcloud account from him with the money instead, and delete the pics yourself. You don't have to tell him you have the same name either.

Or, put up a website or page with your name, professional experience and pictures and apply SEO techniques to make your content be the top one and stop clicking on his soundcloud page. If you can draw enough traffic your page will become the top search result over time. That's what I would personally do.

What can't you simply inform prospective employers of the situation? Doesn't cost and maybe can help you build rapport with them. Include a photo of yourself in your resume and in emails, etc. Add links to your social media accounts that feature photos of you. That way they can see you are a different individual. I wouldn't approach the guy.
