That's all well fine and good but it didn't "ruin" America. The fact of the matter is Perot is a bit hypocritical at this point.
Perot made his millions and billions by renting out computers to companies that could not afford to buy them. But undercutting the competition he was able to change the whole marketplace.
That is not being a hypocritical that I being
a smart competitive business man like Sam Walton.
Ross Perot is actually right, trade agreements like NAFTA or outsourcing to other countries work until costs are too high with importing and increased wages.
jobs aren't coming back for a number of reasons, one big one being the leaders of our countries move toward a global economy. Right now our service-based economy rides off of a fiat world reserve currency. There is very little production in industry. We've for decades now been the beneficiaries of other countries cheap labor while we reap the benefits, and the party looks to be coming to a close. No longer will America be able to get fat (literally) off the hard labors of others.
When your economy is largely based on consumption/service you have a very weak foundation.

Everything is made cheaper in other countries.
American work forces ( employees )want to much money to do the work.
Foreign countries work real cheap.
All companies ( world wide ) only want high profit, and they do not
care about any employees welfare.
At the same point that cheapness ignores the other costs. If you don't have contract laws you can get ripped off really fast. Remember the game Tetris? Guess how much money that inventor received? Not one cent.
Eventually what happens is those that know how to make something will leave and make their own. They don't need specific patents and drawings. They'll remember what they did. They already make cars in china from chinese companies and now it's even electronics. So to suggest you'll train someone because they are cheap and then watch the rug get pulled from under you is a bit short sighted.
Much of the business world works under licenses and agreements and when those are eliminated then it frankly cannot function. Since china itself is becoming gradually the largest market companies are watching it slip away as they cannot stop these changes. Why bother making something when it has to be exported back. Oil is still high, translation, time differences, currency issues etc. It all adds up.
Not everything is based on just labor. For example product like wine and coffee is based on seasonal conditions, regardless of location.
