I haven't read the entire thread but I think the answer is simple. They are aholes in a position of power over you so they take advantage of it and treat you like crap. Beggars can't be choosers.

Wow... that's the most insane hiring policy I think I've ever heard. Are they afraid of getting qualified candidates, or is it that they just don't want to hire outside the family? Amazing!

While in TVSG's industry I'm surprised, in some industries not advertising makes sense. Good example is a guy I knew who was laid off basically doing re-insurance underwriting (mega buck contracts or people within 1-2 years of death). Hired quickly within 2 months, offers by 3 corps, 2 of whom had like employees who worked with him 10+ years, as often due to risk, these policies are partially sold to mitigate risk.

The corp who hired him seldom desired using recruiters or opening posting such spots. They built a large division for these policies by essentially raiding others staffs, or hiring those they laid off, that they desired. Mind you, many such layoffs happened as their growth was anothers revenue stream loss.

No worries, precious little Grasshopper. I pop in once in a while to see if you've made any progress but things are exactly the same as they always have been since the beginning and the endless repetition of inanity continues unabated. Boooooring.

The unemployment office found jobs for you at that the time she came along. Not the case in 2012

My unemployment office is a waste of time. All they are able to help you with is register with them and give you a paper with job links...as if I haven't done that already BEFORE I wasted my time coming there.
