Someone on my friend's list posted that he was laid off and I was stunned because that is personal information. I know people say that you are supposed to let everyone know when you are not working but putting it in your status is just crazy. That never crossed my mind last year when I was laid off but to use facebook to reconnect with people. Weird that people don't know what to put in a facebook status update

It's the internet, there are no rules. People do things that make no sense sometimes. Some make their life public while others will fake it online. They can do whatever they want.

I just hate it when people have no idea how to control their reputation online. I know more than enough about some people just from FB because of their constant updates lol. It's pretty entertaining.

I know an excellent way to control what is on your Facebook page.

Don't have one.

If you're ladi off, why not let others know? They might have a great lead for you.

That's what networking is about.

You make it sound like unemployment is a venereal disease. Like a person should be ashamed of being laid off, of something that was completely beyond their control and is not a reflection on their abilities or character in any way.

The truth is, it is your reaction to their status, that is a reflection on your character. And it isn't a good reflection.

Jeez TVSG you post just about every trivial moment of your job here and whine when a friend posts that they lost their job?

Here's another internet protip: Just because you can make a thread about it, doesn't mean that you should, or that anyone cares.

He gets stunned and shocked so often you'd think it would have a more permanent quieting effect by this time ...

TVSG, it would be far more stunning for you, if people at your workplace could read your C-D posts.

I do agree with another poster who thought this information might help your friend find another job because of the "networking" aspect of Facebook.
