Yeah - they're not too unusual actually. Some places have had a fair few thunderstorms since December - especially western areas, which are more prone to showers in an unstable W'ly air stream. Nothing here though. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a thunderstorm, or even a thundery shower, in the winter before.
Here's video freeze frame of a lightning strike in Cambridgeshire. Sorry about the big size - too lazy to re-size.
It would make up for the lack of snow, but sadly, we just have rain, rain and more rain.
It's too unusual here. Last January had two thunderstorms. West is generally better. Today's thunderstorm managed to keep up its strength inland and towards the east, which is more unusual for winter.
Actually, "Yankee doodle" states have the strictest gun regulations in the US. Its Florida & Texas where purchasing A firearm is like buying chips from a vending machine. Just an FYI . I am all against irresponsible crazies having guns.
It's terrible when these shootings don't even shock you any more, if it happened in any other country it would be huge news, but in the US it happens almost on a daily basis, but yeah the right to carry a gun is far more important than stopping these atrocities

Not really crazy, they have armed response units that do carry guns, the average policeman on the street does not need to carry a gun as we tightened up our gun laws so that hardly anyone can legally own a gun. It worked in the UK, so God only knows why American's think that to combat gun crime you need MORE guns!
