Annoyed that walking outside in the morning means 20°F with some wind. Don't see it getting any better for the rest of the week.
Below freezing days, cold mornings and no snow (a 59°F night is good at melting it). What's the use of cold if there's no snow?
Just discomfort. What a bore. 1.5 months. Should get winter hiking while it lasts, will have to go somewhere north for any snow. Or, since there's no snow I could bundle and bike somewhere. Would be more interesting with cleared roads and snowy fields. Ugh.
Yes, I was thinking earlier how there's no point in February. December means the novelty of cold weather/4pm darkness and Christmas, January means the best chance at getting decent cold and snow, March longer days, the first sign of meaningful strength in the sun and plant growth. What does February have to offer that other months don't do better?
As for the actual weather: 3.8C and mostly overcast at 6pm. It was largely sunny today, but it still didn't get above the 5C at 2am.
Roughly between Muswell Hill and Highgate. We've had two power cuts in the past 12 months, but I went about 15 years without one before so shouldn't complain too much.
You should be thankful your electric wires are underground
I am! Having read this forum for a while I'm glad we don't get tornadoes/severe thunderstorms/blizzards/hurricanes/ice storms knocking the power out on a regular basis too.

OK so a fairly upmarket area, can't remember the last power cut round here I think 2004.

February is just another version of January only shorter.

The same could be said of August, which is a summer month but doesn't have anything to offer that July doesn't do better. In a "good year", February should be a pleasant extension of winter where there's a great chance at decent cold and snow (in my dream climate it's a guarantee, but that's getting off-topic...). If your February (or August) is lackluster, then that just sucks, and complaining about it is what the Un Happy thread was designed for.
Well it's still winter and there's still a cold snap looming ahead (seem to be in a long rut of below average temperatures recently...) so that's something to be less happy about. But, at least winter's days are now numbered and it's only 26 days til March and the prospect of spring, and most importantly some sun!

February is snowier than December, usually has the coldest average low of any month, and can produce some interesting diurnal ranges. Certainly, February has produced some of Britain's best cold spells, and no month has ever rivaled February 1947 in terms of snow.
