Hmm headscarves aren't forbidden in shops, streets, etc. Only in public primary, middle and high schools. Overall, I don't like the lack of "live and let live" attitude regarding a lot of issues. Includes the uproar against gay marriage and varied stuff such as this:

Gang affiliations..... Not that our school has a lot of it, but there is a presence. We try to limit how they can communicate (colors, insignias, hats worn a certain way)

My A levels are finished! Was crapping myself but the exam wasn't too bad!

Got my adapter and suncream so now all ready for America. Gonna go upstairs and pack away all my books and put it up in the attic.

So proud of myself finishing my A levels and pushing me through! It was hard work but hopefully its worth it!

Whoa. I assumed it was for a dress code-related thing. School I went to didn't have anything like that.

Why do you keep saying suncream rather than sunscreen? Most of the British posters say sunscreen so it can't be a British - American English difference.

I always thought sunscreen was stronger and stayed visible on the skin (like you'd see at a cricket match), whereas sun cream is weaker and is rubbed into the skin.
