No it isn't its 1,000 miles further and there are no direct flights there.
What is 1000 miles further and where do they not have direct flights?
All the cities I listed have direct flights flying out of LAX. Qantas, Delta, and United fly non-stop from LAX to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne and they all take roughly 14.5 hours to get to each place. To Asia, Nowhere in Europe flies non-stop to Australia (although I think BA has non-stop seasonal flights to Perth, I think) all year round. Dubai is the closest city to Europe that flies non-stop to Australia.
