British tourists can be terrible. I've lost count of the times I've heard other British complaining in other countries. It's embarrassing!
The Americans I've come across in York seem fine. They love the architecture and always seem to soak up the culture here. I guess there's more than one type of tourist though.

I'm guessing the Americans might come off better, because it takes more effort and expense for Americans to travel to Europe than British so the more interested types are the ones that make it.

Exactly. They aren't normal americans.
