Well, we're only training for the next qualifiers. Humiliating still. The only good thing was that an orchestra performed the national anthems. A pied-noir was to sing the Marsellaise in Helsinki last year, but his pronounciation was redeemed as too Finnish. Humiliating still. It could have been 2-2. Humiliating. A disgrace.
In 2005 the Finnish cuisine was labeled 'the worst even above the English' by Chirac. That was tooked as an ultimate humiliation from a friend we supposedly held dear, as Chirac had labeled the Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen 'The sexiest man in Europe'. Chirac's claim, reinforced by the ones Berlusconi did later, made the Finnish media hostile to France, and was of the first to greet on Sarkozy's victory.
Not to mention that the Finnish President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister all speak French (as probably few European nations can claim), we will not forget that embarrasment. Hollande has no friends in Finland, like Royal did, so any victory Finland could achieve against the French is a matter of national pride. Today was not the day. Maybe tomorrow.
Ok, Berlusconi also said that he persuaded the Finnish female president Halonen with his charm, and Chirac stated that he never said such a thing about Finnish cuisine. But we will never forget...
Meh, Chirac was an arrogant ass. Though witty at times, unlike his successor.
