Well 27 is quite something, for Buxton especially because here the last time that was reached was July 2006. That would usually mean 29°C in the east midlands and 31°C in SE England.
That said, I don't believe this warm snap is going to happen. Too much cloud getting caught up in the high so here we won't get above 21°C. At the moment the "highest" temperature for us in the GFS (which predicts about 2 degrees high than BBC/Meto) is 24°C and I expect to see it be downgraded as it is at the end of the reliable timeframe.
I don't see much cloud - GFS was originally very progressive with the idea of a front moving in, and then getting 'trapped' within the high ,but that idea has been dropped now, and cloud amounts look low, below 30% generally. These cloud forecasts are a load of crap anyway.
Well I'm retaining a healfy skepticism until it gets within 24-48 hours, after recent years' disappointments. When I see my weather station reading in the mid 20's with bright sunshine, I'll believe it.
