Yeah, and summer dragged into September so the cool change was a tad more drastic than it usually is. It was in the mid-30s C (mid-90s F) a couple weeks ago, with even a tropical night on September 19, which is the latest recorded. It's also been quite wet lately.
Lol makes sense since some global warming projections predict record rains near large bodies of water and little or no rain in the continental interiors of large continents.

Yeah, and two weeks ago the town of Valleraugue got 27.8 inches in 24 hours, of which 14.2 inches in 3 mere hours!

Incredible

Chicago's official precip records

West suburban Aurora 25 miles to the west of Midway airport, record nearly 17" of rain in a 24 hour period in July 1996. Not too bad for being in the middle of the continent far from the oceans

Could see frost tonight

Euro pattern by mid month looks very mild here

I would die for that to make up for a record dry year.

Yes, a long-wave trough seems set to hit the west coast by the weekend but that pattern doesn't look to want to stick around for that long. The remainder of the month seems to be more zonal.

After today temps look mild for at least the next 8 or 9 days with temps reaching 80 degree and dew points in the 60s for at least a couple days according to the GFS but then it also has a few days with temps only in the 40s around October 16th! Maybe it has some storm moving through the Midwest around that time which will tug colder air from Canada as it moves it's way east?? The CFSv2 says overall well above normal from Oct 14th through the 24th so I don't know it's seeing anything cold shot yet at this range or if the pattern will quickly revert to warmth.

Gamma is dead so put it to bed. All the rain from it is just offshore from me and i got nothing but .20" Sunday. I expect less than 1.5" for all of Oct and blazing temps thru Dec. System number two will also miss my area as it will hit the same area's that keep getting hits all this summer while i get nothing.
