I almost feel this event needs a thread of its own. Météo-France has christened the developing storm "Alex". Damaging wind conditions up to 140 km/hr expected to develop overnight Thursday into Friday.

Northeast View. The 3rd week was my favorite.
Overall, the month was at or slightly below average thanks to the cold snap.

North Carolina frozen precip falling in some areas of the mountains

Four words for this winter for the Great Plains and Midwest. Record Cold and Dry.

Low chance of rain Sunday, otherwise dry and sunny for the next week as it has been for over a month.
Crawfordsville is often the coolest AWOS closest to Indy.

Yeah that's a bit strong. Too bad there are no posters living in the area.

The only thing that stands out to me is that it's a gale coming in this early via the central French atlantic coast. If it came in via Ireland/UK I wouldn't think of it as anything unusual.

Yeah, such strong storms are nothing weird really, but the special part is that it's still very early in the Fall season. You'd expect it to happen more around November / December.
