And how many times did LGA hit 90° by now?

Hint: Only 9 times since 1940 they didn't. This year is one of them. That's why 90 is being mentioned as big news. It's late.

Here's a look at the latest dates of the 1st 90° there. Note....... twice in past 5 yrs this late. Normal is June 2nd

We got you beat. 74.5F at ORD and 75.8F at MDW which is -2.9F below average to date. My nearest station at IKK has an average high of 78.2F which is -2.0F below normal.

Forecast is getting better here

It's 63f this morning with a dew point of 60. Feels nice and supposed to have a high of 80.

Still below average for here but I'm not complaining. I'm really thinking we are going to have an early fall with cool fronts starting to come down in August. Summer will be short.

And this is based on what exactly? you really think the month of June determines weather in September? Does December weather predict spring?

You are wishcasting, that's all.

Ha, I wish. Summer is lasting to October recently. For here the last cool September we had was 2013. 2009 before that. Only twice in past 10yrs

Todays pattern doesn't imply a future pattern although some clues and signals may help figure out what might happen. We just don't have that ability yet, nor do models. I don't think we ever will because the atmosphere changes pretty frequently and fast so what is thought now, will be a different thought tomorrow.

I do like that Summer is not a full fledge one with the jet stream up well north into Canada (still in the U.S) That will help cold air in Canada build up come August-September.

Is that the first time the ridge has gone north into Quebec like that this year? Very impressive.

I like seeing some heat push up to New England and Quebec, it's so rare that it happens so impressive when it does.

I remember in 2013 I think it was, it was upper 90's in NYC, don't know if NYC is capable of that this year.

Slightly cooler than normal day on tap in Austin, sunny and 89 with the chance of a thunderstorm later this evening. Strong Gulf flow which means places north of us can get the ridge we normally get, so Chicago we're sending you some heat while we get some easterlies.
