A good July in terms of averages, but surely we can get a day of 100 or at least high 90's before the summer's over?
Doesn’t Tennessee get consistent heat every summer anyways?, I know that even in the hard core continental climates that summer is the most consistent season in terms of weather patterns

It's instant sweating here. As soon as I walk out the door I'm dripping in less then 30 seconds.

Heat index high as 116F at the Chicago/Schaumburg station about 5 miles west of ORD

heat breaks Sunday and stays below average until at least Wednesday

It usually depends on the average high. July and August average a high of about 89 F / 32 C here. I consider "hot" to be a high of 85 F / 29 C or greater. In an average July or August, we might have 80% of our days reach that level.

As of July 19, 2019, the last time a day failed to reach 85 was June 14, so that's 35 straight hot days. That's pretty consistent even by our standards. Further evidence of this consistency in the past month is the fact that it hasn't been below 70 F / 21 C for a low since June 28.

Most summers have occasional cool spells (maybe 1-2 per month) that send highs down to the 77-83 F / 25-28 C range for a couple days. This July hasn't had one, although it looks like we may have one coming next week.

If the month is running cooler than average, it may not have consistent heat. July 2009, for instance, averaged a high of 84.9 F / 29.4 C with 4 days with highs in the 70s. Only 4 days hit 90 F / 32 C that month. 13 of the 31 days didn't hit 85, I'd call that consistent warmth but not consistent heat.

But yes, summers in Tennessee typically are consistently warm at least and hot on most days. There's never been a day with a high below 70 F / 21 C between June 7 and September 4, inclusive, during my lifetime (26 years). In fact, the only two days with highs AT 70 during that period were June 11, 1997 and July 18, 2014. I remember July 18, 2014 well. It was weird!

Some rain this afternoon has cooled much of Georgia into the 70s this evening. Much of North/South Carolina, however, continues to roast in the upper 80s as of 9 PM.

Yup, cool down is coming next week for us. This well advertised and hyped up heat isn't last long.

Love that rain cooled air. Always feel lucky when you get rain. Probably why they praised the lords in the past. Its magic for cooling and crops.

11pm and NYC still feels like 98F. My AC isn't turning off. If it does it kicks back on every 5 minutes. My condensate pump is running a lot. Trying to keep the rooms under 70F is a challenge.

Very warm muggy night. Midway still at 80F at 4am

Yesterday saw incredible heat indices in the Chicago metro area.

Minnesota had a heat index of over 120F yesterday

One more hot day today then the heat breaks

Of course we did not reach the century mark though. It's extremely difficult to do that with all the moisture in the air (and ground) in the Midwest this summer.

Seven day forecast for ORD shows maybe 3 days of below average temps out of the seven, then average to a bit above average towards the end of the week

What's all the hype about? After this weekend max temps will be at or below normal all week. Great summer so far! Only 1 heat wave

About a half hour northeast of Philadelphia in Bucks County, already a heat index of 97F at 930am! And the heat index only dropped to 83F at sunrise. Dewpoint has been consistently above 70F since around 8pm on the 16th

I tried to vac out the Corvette this AM and just about died after 10 mins and was wet as a stuck pig. Super heavy rain all around me last nite and only .15". Going back to a west flow next week so i see no real rain for days or weeks as long as we are in a west flow.
