Very early signs of spring that I have noticed have been tulips, daffodils and other bulb flowers just starting to push their tips up above the soil surface, also of note, maples(mostly silver and red maples), are just starting to see their buds swell in size, I also have noticed a very few insects flying around as of February 11th, so, barring any prolonged and severe cold snaps, I expect the early signs of spring to slowly increase in the next several weeks.

I hope spring ends up bitterly cold to at least partially make up for these abysmal so-called "winter" temperatures.

I took every year that hit 80 in February and put together a composite of temps and precipitation anomalies the following spring. Only year missing from this composite is 1890 but that's because the websites data only goes back to 1895. Want to here something insane, the record high for Feb. is 84, guess when it was set, 1 month after our coldest month ever, Jan 1977. Accuweathers spring forecast looks eerily similar to the temp map. Poor 77kelvin, he is the only above average spot in the whole nation. His status may not be uncalled for at all then lol.

Here are the following summers just because im interested and kind of distraught by all those blues lol.

Not promising at all... second thought I wish we did not hit 80 this February, there are notable exceptions of course. 2011 comes to mind, haven't checked for any more.

Would love this! Last time we had an legitimately cool July and June was like 2009. Hopefully the pattern flips before then. Our last below avg month was May so fingers crossed.

Poor Texas though.

2009 was hot down south, give me last summer but with June 2015. Last June was not all that good but it wasn't bad. Could have been much better if darn wedges did not keep ruining it.

Long range models have been showing all the cold in Eurasia spilling over by March 1st..... JB may get lucky and get his March 1960, or it will be an up and down month.
