deep freezer for the higher peaks, seems like these events keep happening every winter recently. Or maybe I'm not paying attention.

Recent years yes. Easier in March then December.

When the Arctic is breaking record cold temps and that air dives southeast into Quebec and Northeast U.S you can bet its fresh, its frigid for us. So strong its suppressing a storm south.

Euro says low temps in the teens 3 nights in a row NYC northwards Sat, Sun & Monday, then again Wednesday & Thursday mornings. I give up.

Heads up blooms south of NYC too.

Heres Sunday morning lows.

Question is.... does it take 2 Extreme Arctic blasts to make us have a below normal month finally? We'll see.

That airmass coming in would be cold for any time of the year, let alone mid-March . It's too bad it couldn't have come in a month or two earlier, but I have to admit that a frosted spring (even in places like North Carolina it looks like!) immediately following such a warm February (a la Spring 1930) is a great plot twist in 2017's weather so far .

With such extreme arctic outbreaks going on coupled with the snowstorms, the Spring that sprung early will likely progress much slower than normal; I wouldn't be surprised if its head start vanishes altogether by the end of March, which if so could even lead to late Spring arriving later than average. If Spring's your favorite season that could be good news since it would mean it would be here longer than usual.

Warm, humid and overcast. Currently 60 with a dew of 50.

0.46" of rain fell this morning, but it has now stopped.

Went down to just 47 this morning. The high so far is 60, the 7th 60 degree day so far this year.

As previously mentioned, still appears that another anomalously
cold air mass arrived Friday night into Saturday, after the low
pressure has passed our region by. Anomaly approaching 3
standard deviations below normal, so likely looking at min
temperatures in the single digits and teens, with highs
struggling to break 20 away from the immediate coastline. May
need wind chill headlines for Saturday. This type of airmass
could be record breaking
.

Sunday and beyond...

Large high pressure now appears to dominate our weather Sunday
and Monday, as the core moves east across Canada. Temperatures
should get a little higher each day with more sunshine
