That cold weekend in early January was record breaking for some in VA and tied records in Raleigh. Safe to say it was far colder here than this weekend.

It was much milder in NYC. I remember when I was in the airport it was -7° C and I was freezing

I feel bad for you guys, a lot of flowers are dying

Yep, it was colder here because of a snowstorm. Average high is 60, shouldn't break 53 today unfortunately though.

Not all flowers will die though, not all trees either. Just the ones that are less tolerant of freezes. Maples will be fine, cherries too. Tonight might be another hard freeze, hoping we busy higher after 2 nights busted really low compared to forecasts.

Obviously car is warmer, but it's still cold.
Wind picked up late morning, feels much colder. Was planing on going for a walk but I'll go another day.

3rd day in a row with Tropical storm force winds from NW. Why cant I get these winds from the south in summer?? Sounds loud outside again and damn cold. Wtf. 1pm feels like teens still.

Poor landscape past 3 weeks is like; "time to wake up, no wait, go back to sleep, ok now wake up, no wait, grab the blanket and go back to sleep."

The beginning of March can still feel like winter even in NYC. Plus the SoTC in 1993 happened in March as well. March IMO is a bipolar month that favors cold. If it were April right now I would be miffed and asking "Why now instead of January?"..... I too don't like back loaded winters but I would be complaining if we were at the END of March not the beginning of March.

3 maps.

This... (2pm Temps)

Plus this.... (2pm Wind gusts)

Equals this.... (2pm Wind Chills). Feels like teens and single digits out there midday. Something more typical of mid Winter in January.

Little Saturday Stat for you.. Hartford number of days max temp staying below freezing in November = 3 in 1978. Meanwhile there were 10 in March 1960.

that means we get colder 1st month of Spring more than last month of Fall. Hate that.
