It occurs occasionally during the summer, but I don't recall it happening much outside of summer.

Summer storms seem to move in more random directions compared to other seasons.

Most of the summer storms here come from the west or southwest off the GOMEX. We do occasionally get storms off the Atlantic but off the Gulf more often. They seem to gain strength over the Everglades but lose it over the metro area.

Got as warm as 88F/31C in the Chicago area yesterday. Cool spots of course were lakeside.... Damn check out the predicted dew point levels by Thursday. Reaching 75F/24C. With 5 of the next seven days at or above 70F/21C. That's like August level.

Clearing is happening East to West but still expect scattered drizzle/rain around

Looks like a NorEaster or a Tropical Storm. It actually is a coastal storm, hence the spinning

The past 9 day period is 2nd coldest on record for rdu, second to 1935. May averages 4 days below 70 typically, we have gotten 7. record is 12. Average for month as a whole right now is 74/56 compared to the average of 79.6/56.5. This week stretch of above normal temps will help us out a bit, we will probably finish up at 76/57, still well below normal unfortunately. Will be coolest may since 2013 which was followed by a veryyyy cool summer, many places in nc set there record for least 90 degree days that year. Today will be the first average day in more than a week with a high of 82. June not looking any better.
