Interestingly, every summer this decade in Lexington has been progressively cooler except for 2014 being slightly warmer than 2013. This is for June-August:

Looking at just high temperature, 2010 and 2012 are tied for the hottest. 2012 saw a lot of dry heat, therefore minimums were lower.

"Pittsburgh's sounding this morning came in at record cold territory at 850mb.

700mb is the same story, too"

Look where normal is. About +7C

I remember July 2013 was one of the hottest and most humid months I remember. Even though temperatures where in the high 80s it was just nothing short of oppressive because of the humidity

2014 summer was about as average as they come, but there were only 7 days of 90+ degrees which is half of the average. I think it felt colder than it actually was because the hottest weather came during last week of Augut and first week of September

Upstate NY definitely on the cool side these days.

I'm only 45 mins from the NY border and the weather today brutal.
Fierce cold wind and cool temps, feels worse than a winter day.
Will bounce back to upper 50s tomorrow (still well below normal but I'll take it).

Sounds similar to July 2011 here. It didn't get above 94F, but the mean dewpoint was 70F. The dewpoint hit 81 one day, and 77 or higher on 6 other days. Epic combination of heat and high levels of soil moisture.

Yeah, July 2014 was well below average but then late August/early September was awesome. And incidentally, the longest streak of 70F+ dewpoints since July 2011.

I don't even know how it's possible. Binghamton was below average for April, July, August, and October last year, while New York City was ABOVE average in those months. Like how do you even explain that? The only thing I could think of is that NYC is becoming bigger which increases UHI, while Binghamton is slowly losing residents, but still

Last year July and August were awesome. Just never ending days of 80s and the few days that we got into the 90s it was dry heat

Last June and July were awesome, August was bad. Below average temperatures, below average rainfall, low dewpoints.

Last June was crappy, but I didn't mind because a) we had a fantastic May and b) we had a good July. I think one below average month isn't particularly bad as long as the surrounding months aren't completely crap
