Cool Rime Ice!

Nws NY for this area.. clouds are from the Pacific, coincidence we were warm today? No.

But note..if clouds dont hang around they will need to lower the minimum temps and expand frost advisories. Forecaster dilemmas. Models not good with Pacific clouds?

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
351 PM EDT MON MAY 9 2016

STLT INDICATED A MASSIVE EXPANSE OF MID AND HIGH CLOUDS FLOWING
FROM THE SUBTROPICAL PACIFIC INTO THE CWA. DIFFICULT FOR THE
MODELS TO GET THIS PERFECT...BUT STLT TRENDS COMBINED WITH THE
PROGS SUGGEST THE CLOUD COVER WILL GET INTO MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE
CWA TNGT. THIS COMPLICATES THE FROST FCST. WITH TEMPS SOMEWHAT MRGL
TO BEGIN WITH...HAVE CANCELLED THE ADVY FOR ALL BUT NRN NEW LONDON
COUNTY...WHICH HAS THE BEST CHC OF THE CLOUDS HOLDING OFF
YIELDING IDEAL RADIATIONAL COND. DESPITE THIS...DID MAINTAIN THE
MENTION OF PATCHY FROST FOR MOST OF INTERIOR CT INTO THE LWR
HUDSON VALLEY.

IF THE CLOUDS DON/T MATERIALIZE AS PLANNED...TEMPS WILL NEED TO BE
ADJUSTED DOWNWARD AND FROST COVERAGE EXPANDED.

OTHERWISE...THE SHALLOW COLD FRONT ACROSS CT WWD INTO NERN PA WILL
DRIFT SWD THRU THE CWA THIS EVE. IT APPEARS IT MAY BE DELAYED TIL
MIXING DECREASES LIMITING THE OPPOSING SWLY FLOW. WINDS THEN
BECOME LGT WITH DIRECTION EITHER VRB OR TENDING TO THE N.

Thanks Cambium. I'm trying to detect any signs of patterns here.

Wonder if the more above normal precip months is evidence that El Nino atmosphere continues even with La Nina status in Pacific.

That could be the case. Technically we are still in a weak El Nino

All clear here. Feels chilly, driving late morning, I had the A/C on with the sun beating down on my car. Drove home in the evening with the heat on

Multiple tornado reports in Oklahoma today. Looks like some were intense and caused significant damage.

The threat is moving into Arkansas, and northeast TX, northwest LA tonight.

All clear here although clouds to north and still windy. Still upper 50s so I doubt we drop 20 degrees here
