Still not seeing what the big deal is.

Starting Monday Chicago's highs are 17-27-24-27-31-30-33 F, etc.

And no overnight lows at 0F or below.

To me that's not a cold wave in Chicago in January, is it?

If the forecast verifies the temp will be much lower. Forecasters are just being conservative as usual.

Very good point. I have seen this over and over again the last two winters. Even last week the forecast showed we were not supposed to go below 20F this morning lol.

It will be much colder and revised as the days get closer to the event.

How cold did Sochi Russia get during these last couple cold blasts there? I saw some really low temps in Turkey and I assume Sochi got blasted. Such a difference to when they had the winter Olympics.

Last week the forecast low here was 67 F for Monday and it ended up being 58 F. Next week the forecast lows are already in the upper 50s.....hopefully we can drop below 50 F. Would be sweet.

Today stayed in the 40s all afternoon with a blue dome sky and sunshine. It was total perfection. Hopefully tonight doesn't disappoint and I drop into the 20s this time.
