Northern Wisconsin almost saw a frost yesterday, 33F in Tomahawk (45.5N and 1487ft/453m). Frost somewhere in the state in June and August happens most years but July frost is uncommon.
Tomahawk is a notorious cold spot (airport located in a low spot by a river) and can see frost in every month of the year.
As we been pointing out.... Can't get real heat or sustained heat in this pattern which will last another 10 days at least. Possible longer but that's still long range.
the weather for the net few days look below average with highs in the mid to upper 80s. been cloudy past few days hope the sun comes out for July 4 th tomorrow. so this makes a 3rd year in the row for the east coast to have a below average summer well at least for the northern part of the country. so after 3 below summers and 2 severely cold winters I think climatologically speaking this pattern will soon end but I don't think there is any sign of that in the long range. the fact that the polar vertex has made intrusions this summer scares me for the upcoming winter. and i wonder if the really warm ocean temps off the coast of nc play a role in all these shark attacks. the temps on Wrightsville beach at one point got as high as 89.
