Officially the coldest month on record ever in Buffalo (the only station around here that dates back anywhere near the 1800's.) A once in a life time record. Wow, just wow.
As much as I wish this was a warm record lol, any type of extreme phenomenon like this, I can't help but to appreciate.
Another strange warm-up from the Chicopee station. -11°F at 7 am, 15°F at 10 am. I'm starting to think something is making Chicopee read 5°F colder than the rest of the area every early morning. Bright and sunny, no clouds.
This month is going to end up abut 10F colder than average for both the lows and highs.
Really, it just seems entirely appropriate to me (actually, even colder would still be better). It's the normal averages that are way too warm for winter.
I'm now in a moderate drought. Only 1.38 inches of rain were recorded in February, which is well below average. Maybe we will get enough rain next week to remove it.
It feels like the entire February I have been under house arrest, unable to leave the house for anything other than basic necessities or college. Seeing those digits finally turn positive makes me feel like a prisoner who is serving his last few days in jail

This month was definitely nice, but I would like it to be at least 20 or 30F colder in order to be considered satisfactory. I belong in Northern Canada Something like Yellowknife
Another way roller-coaster day/night: forecast low of -8°F, high of 28°F [diurnal range of 36°F / -20°C]. Felt nice in the sun this afternoon. Stronger sun is probably helping things warm up, dry clear night temperatures plunge.
