The pattern will start to become more favorable for arctic air in the US by the very end of the month into January at this point. The cold will take longer to move into the eastern US, though.

Taking a break from the net before I rant each day about this winter. All I see is warm, seasonable, and rains here. Don't believe the arctic cold hype. In a couple weeks winter is pretty much half done. In a few weeks its mid February with March coming around...

Here's Bernie Rayno about the Blizzard Bomb for Midwest Christmas Eve. When the jet stream pushes north in the Eastern Pacific/West Coast guess what happens East of the Rocky Mountains... Everyone watch, good info and knowledge here.

Latest Euro an absolute monster 966mb storm over Lake Huron. 30-50mph gusts over Michigan with snow Christmas Eve/night. Indiana/Ohio get it after initial rains on last Euro run.
Saturday another storm from south heads to the Death Lakes. Warm and rains in East

Chances of a warm winter are increasing...

Expect some records, as NYC is expected to reach high 50s next week.

This is what NWS is predicting for January-March 2015. I'm hoping it is true for my area, but their forecasts aren't reliable.

It's snowing right now from a completely unexpected storm. It's just flurries and it looks like it will stop soon, but it was more than I expected, and more snow than we get most Decembers. Though it reminds me that even in the warmest winters, we usually manage to get some wintery precipitation.

I love it! I hope the pattern stays nice and warm!

I'm in southern NJ and last week we hit almost 60 F...not a record but nice and warm. No snow, and no chance for any snow from NYC south. I leave for Florida right after Christmas and will not be back until almost Feb. So winter is already 66% over for me

Every update in the forecast is worse than the one before. Now they are predicting a 72F low on Tuesday night. Maybe we can set a new record.
Terrible climate
