Once again another Tornado in Massachusetts and Warning was late to be posted by NWS meanwhile amateurs and meterologists were spilling tweets and posts that there was possibly a tornado happening just by radar and pics from the area. Sad we cant rely on NWS

I do feel different at nights past decade+.

While Summer Max temp Average steadily up & down, I think its worth it to note that its the minimum temps driving the monthly averages up.

Is this a cloud thing, an ocean thing, or something else?

We just had our hottest August on record. This comes on the heels of the 2nd hottest July on record. Even on the central interior plateau (elevation ~900m/3000ft) the average highs for July and August were 27.2 and 27.1C. That's about 81F.

Here in Penticton I don't think we really came close to the hottest August on record as temperatures really trailed off in late August.

Did your area get more urban or built-up? The UHI can certainly cause warmer nights. Seems more likely than any other explanation.

Yeah, good call... I didn't even think of that. The BDR area had a construction boom in the 80s (as well as many areas in the region) so that's most likely it. Used to have more grass and trees around. Ugh

The duration of heat here is just crazy .

Atlanta, Georgia (30301) Conditions & Forecast | Weather Underground

In spite of being very hot, at least NJ sees much cooler days next week
