- Subarctic
- Humid Continental (though climates that start to grade off towards warm temperate such as Kansas City and St. Louis I don't like too much. Summers way too hot and winters are pretty mild)
- Highland climates (such as Breckenridge or Yellowstone Lake)
- Sub-polar Oceanic (as long as summers aren't too cool, I wouldn't mind a climate like Anchorage)

I like the transition from humid subtropical to humid continental. Southern IL and MO, and Kentucky.

My favourite climate would be either Sydney without the humdity, or San Francisco but 5C warmer year round.

Oceanic/ humid subtropical, subtropical highland, Mediterranean and mild deserts- quite a diverse lot, as long as yearly means are a mild 12-22.5C or thereabouts (eg Eucla, Swakopmund, Mexico City etc)

Winters that are rainy and cloudy depress me. I like thunderstorms in the summer, combined with low humidity year round. I prefer winters not be very cold, and summer not be very hot. So average winter highs in the 40s or 50s, and summer highs in the low 80s (with low humidity) is great for me.
This. I agree completely.
