Seville, Spain or Nice in France. They have much more stable winters than places in the US like Savannah or Charleston. As we have just seen, it seems crazy early for a place like Charleston to go below freezing already.

For the sake of being politically correct, lets leave out the Gentle aspect of the Southern Climates and leave it at Mild Southern Climates Versus the Northern Climates with real winters. tom77falcons you are absolutely correct about Southern Climates here in America not being Benign in comparison to those in Europe. Climates such as Charleston S.C. and Savannah, GA are indeed more prone to extreme cold snaps than Nice, France or Seville, Spain.

Western and Southern Europe is an ocean influenced climate as is the West Coast of the U.S. Just like how chilly summer San Francisco has a warmer ALL TIME RECORD LOW than all GULF COAST cities including a tie with Miami of 27F.

There's just so many levels here. Chicago's winter may seem brutal to a Floridan, but to me it is mild.

I can definitely agree that the question I am asking is a bit broad.
