Ice coverage on southern Lake Michigan is down to 10%-20%. Plenty of open water which contributed to this AM's lake snow along the shoreline

Accumulations were minor

Snowfall reports as of 7AM:

1.5" Chicago-Rogers Park (right on the lake)
0.8" Lincolnwood
0.7" Chicago-Roscoe Village
0.5" Hobart, IN
0.3" Valparaiso, IN

Not sure if Midway or ORD recorded any measurable snow

Yeah that's where NWS Chicago has their office (in Romeoville) so there is always some sort of background radar feed around Joliet.

NorEaster Update::

Follow the trends of the models to get a feel of where things are going & progressing...

Getting some continuity now. Like I said, we'll know whole lot better tonight and tomorrow morning.

Consensus right now is that this is a big snowstorm from Eastern CT, Rhode Island and the MA capes into Nova Scotia.

Euro12z qpf:

Danbury 0.28"
Groton 0.56"
Nantucket 1.80"
Boston 0.52"
Islip 0.40"

So you can see the 1-3" still for Danbury and the 4-6" for Groton. And Capes get hammered. That's on the Euro. GFS, NAM, and Canadian all are less today.

If tonights updates don't show a trend/shift closer to coast then it should stay about status quo.
It could even miss us all l together but I am not thinking that scenario at all.

This is from the latest Euro. Doesn't show precip, just 850 temps and surface. Look at that monster 957mb NorEaster! Those are pressures we see with Tropical systems.

I don't think it will go that low. Maybe sub 980mb but not 950s!

I'm beginning to think Spring isn't going to happen this season. We'll jump from Winter right to Summer. Was -8F last night and going below zero again tonight. Then again on Tues night before it finally breaks and warms into the 30's. But along with the warming comes the snow. I like snow bunches, but I've been having to use the ice scraper since Oct and it would be nice to just get in the vehicle and drive without trying to get in the doors and clearing snow off every day.

That doesn't even tell the whole story.

I should not have to deal with temps in the 90s this early!!

fortunately it will cool off with highs in the low 80s on Monday and Tuesday and in the mid 70s on wensday and thursday it's winter's last charge before highs in the 70s are banished for good.

That's a record high in Kendall.

Beating out the old one set...if you can believe it...on this date last year.

And here I am hoping for it to stay in the 50's & 60's here.

That level of heat is unbearable. Even in mid-summer, extreme heat advisories are raised across NJ for such high temperatures.
