Unfortunately my family got to experience this!
But since people in my area are almost all in bed when the lows are recorded, I thought the more impressive figure was a HIGH temperature of -15 on Thursday, since that was the second-lowest high temperature we have ever recorded. And unfortunately, it came during the time of day when most of us had to be out in it.
But we're kind of used to it.

A low of 28F is typical for Orlando in January? I'm not sure....

Look at how much real estate will be 30-40 degree below normal tomorrow

Well the roller coaster part lol.

Many years we would get 20s once or twice in Daytona, I guess Orlando is a little warmer.

A foot of snow here and still falling hard. Coupled with the upcoming cold plus expected wind, it's wicked. I can barely see across my road.

Takes a lot to keep me home but tomorrow's commute will be about 80 miles round-trip. Schools and government buildings will be closed and people are being asked not to drive. Guess I get the day off!

From 1981 to 2010, 12 (or 40%) of the years reached 28 F or below at KMCO, using NWS Melbourne, FL (1. "First/Last Dates"; 2. "Orlando Area"; 3. "Min temp <= 28 F"; 4. "1981 to 2010"). I would reckon the long-term (since 1892) average is less than that

Currently here in Colorado in the single digits. This will probably feel like a heat wave on Wednesday.

Continued updates with TWCs blog. Looks like some rivers are swelling from getting frozen up with ice.
