A lot of people have this idea that med climates are perfect, and it's always 60 to 80 degrees there. But the reality is many med climates are prone to waves of extreme summer heat (100+ degrees F), and have winters that are chilly and wet or even downright cold, and about as long as places with continental climates, but lack the perks of continental climates such as snow and sun.

The imbalance of rain throughout the year also makes for horrible allergies for a lot of people, from all of the pollen and vegetation that dries up. So what do you think? Med climates - overrated?

Yes, their summers are far too hot (and they are often humid, despite low rainfall in summer). Plus, lack of summer rain makes grass scorched.

I like certain Med climates. But only the ones that have a decent amount of rain. I don't like them if they have less than about 600mm of rain.

Humid subtropical climate zones also get very hot summers and quite freezing winters (they beat the Mediterranean climate with their colder winters). So that wasn't a good reason.

Okay, maybe there is more winter rain. But HS climates also have considerable amount of rainfall in the winter.

Another advantage humid continental climates have is there is more reprieve during the summer from the shade clouds offer. And there's not as much allergies and dead grass.

Not really overrated. Most have rather mild winters. 50s and low 60s are great temps for outdoor activity, so they're a perk in themselves. Most med climates have plenty of sunshine mixed in gloomier spells, so they're not that bad. Heat depends on the location.

Sometimes. Overrated because it is too dry and the winters aren't as warm as many think/would like. Summers are beautiful, though.

Also the thing I don't like about Mediterranean climate is that most of its sunshine is concentrated in summer, in the time where I want sun the least (because its associated with heat).

I think they are overrated. Somehow, I have a feeling Europeans think visiting the Med is like Americans visiting the Caribbean or Mexico. It's not, lol. The warmest cities in Spain are only 60-65 degrees in winter with mixed rain and sun; versus Mexican hotspots that are 80-90 degrees in the dry season
