Ok. But still, those UK guys had a truly miserable June. Looking at the averages, June wasn't really that bad there. Just missed out on those high temps.

It was actually slightly above average here temperature-wise, as well as very dry, but also duller than average with a very low absolute maximum.
It's been awful. We might finally be getting some hot weather though by the end of the week. If the models do turn out to be correct, southern England will be 30C+ and France could be 40C! It's a big if mind.
Chicago's data for the month of June will be available tomorrow. I'll already tell you that it's was about 1C below normal. I'll post the details when the are available on the NWS website
total rainfall ............... 94.8mm / 3.7" (+48.3mm)
days with rain ............ 12
days with thunder ....... 0
total sunshine ............ 126.9 hours
average per day ......... 4.2 hours/day (+0.2)
The first 2 weeks of the month were incredibly cloudy, however the second half saw an extended spell of sunny days which allowed to average to recover to normal levels. Temps were slightly above average without any major cold snaps. Due to the extreme cloudiness, the first half of the month saw lows consistently 3-5c above normal, however during the second half, an extended 9-day period of sub 5c lows occured due to high pressure causing clear skies.

This month will be remembered for the excessive cloudiness more than anything. The total of 152.1 hours is the lowest since June 1967's meagre total of 125 hours. Our long term average is around 207 hours so a significant deficit.
It never really recovered after a nine day run between (and incl.) the 5th to the 13th whereby a total of just 15.9 hours was recorded. We had a sunny spell in the third quarter only for another low pressure system in the last four days (and which is still lingering around now) to wipe out any chances of a recovery.
Interesting, rainfall was below average (only 88% of the monthly total) but 12 days of measurable precipitation occurred, above the average of 8 days.
Referring back to the sunshine stats, a total of 13 days had <= 3 hours, well above the long term average (LTA) of 5.6 days.
Being a big fan of sunshine, it wasn't a great month and I never look forward to June anyway. Note that Brisbane's June's have underperformed in recent years (when compared back to its LTA) with just 2 our of the last 10 years being above the average (2004 and 2008). Here's hoping for an improvement in 12 month's time (statistically very probable!).
PS We were not as bad as Sydney which had an even larger % sunshine deficit (just 119 hours or 70% of the LTA)
