Here's a question...

We all know sea surface temps in Pacific is cold, Atlantic is warm during the past decade.

If the Atlantic cooled off would dewpoints still be high here???

Maybe a little less, but the ccharacter of the summer would be the same. We get air masses from further south.

As of 5:00pm tonight the dew point at the Vancouver Airport is officially 20.2°C / 68.4°F. That's even higher than during the record setting heatwave of July 2009, when it reached 19°C. I don't know when (or if) the last time a dew point of 20°C was recorded in Vancouver, but it's certainly been a long time.

Edit: After looking through the historical data, it seems the last time Vancouver got this humid was on June 14th, 1999 when the dew point hit 21°C.

They might be more similar than I thought. If weatherspark is right

Average Weather For Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - WeatherSpark

But an average high dewpoint of 59°F sounds way too high for Vancouver.
