I like the dehumidifying aspect of a/c. I set my thermo at between 75-77F. I put my ceiling fan on and am good to go with a sheet over me or no covering at all. Most nights in Philly in summer are in the 70's, and then at the crack of dawn it reaches down to around 68 - 70F. But the dewpoints rise at night. Gets very sticky at night.
I have no AC where I live and even during the hottest days have never needed it. I might turn on a fan once in a while for air circulation but that's it. The normal temp of my place is always 22C-25C in winter and in summer a few degrees cooler due to no heat.
My preferred temperature setting year-round is 66F/19C by day and 60F/16C by night. However, warmer parts of my house are usually kept at 68-72F (20-22C), since my comfort zone extends up to 74F/23C. I keep my bedroom cooler than that at (nearly) all times. So I checked off the boxes ranging from 16C to 22C, since that's my A/C range.
isn't that standered? I haven't met a house yet in Miami that doesn't have a thermostat.
Yes, but houses in Rhode Island are going to be different than houses in Miami. Room A/C s are more common in New England than central A/C, houses don't have A/C, rooms do. Cheap ones don't have a thermostat. Current room temperature is 73°F (22.8°C).

ah yeah we have both. sometimes the summer heat overwhelms the central A/C so we have to turn on the room A/C as well just to keep the house at 80f!
63-73F. I have my heat down in the mid to low 60s in winter, occasionally turning it up a bit. In summer, it is usually in the low to mid 70s in the house, but sometimes soaring into the 80s on hot days. (Problem is, it retains summer heat well into the night). I never use heat from late May until mid to late September. I might get a portable A/C unit soon.
