Took a drive up to High Point, NJ today (elevation 1,800 feet). I didn't have a good camera, so I was stuck with my crappy cell phone camera.

Leaves are slightly behind peak here, too.

Here's our forecast for the weekend:

* ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO 12 INCHES OF WET SNOW WITH THE HIGHER
AMOUNTS EXPECTED IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

* TIMING...A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION
FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST FROM LATE SATURDAY MORNING INTO THE
AFTERNOON. THE PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE TO HEAVY WET SNOW BY
LATE AFTERNOON OR EARLY EVENING ACROSS THE REGION. SNOW WILL
FALL HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT. 1 TO 2 INCH PER HOUR
SNOWFALL RATES ARE POSSIBLE AT TIMES SATURDAY NIGHT.

Though the local rather than regional forecast predicts only 5-9 inches of snow.

Winter Storm Warning now in effect with 8-14 inches predicted in the higher elevations. Winds could gust up to 30 MPH. Unbelievable.

Wow. I see 3-5 inches predicted for NYC. I wonder how many times this has happened before?

Just checked. Most snow Central Park has recorded in October (for the entire month) is 0.8 inches.

It snowed for the first time in Duluth, MN yesterday (October 27th). That's about right on schedule. Of course, it was only there for about 15 minutes, and then the sun quickly melted it.

As of now, almost all leaves have fallen above the hill (the trees have been bare for at least 10, maybe 15 days). Below and on the lower portions of the hill, though, most of the trees still have leaves and most likely will until early or mid-November.

A few flakes began around 10AM, but now lightly snowing. Should get heavier as the afternoon rolls on.
