A multi-day, multi-region potentially historic and destructive winter storm will unleash its fury beginning Monday and will last through Wednesday.
When everything is said and done, the storm may very well impact a third of the population of the United States; approximately 100 million people.
Its reach will be felt from the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies to the Ohio Valley to the coast of New England.
Accompanied with the winter storm will be a severe thunderstorm threat across the South capable of producing damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes...
This should be very interesting to follow. Here in NW New Jersey we're under a Winter Storm Watch from Monday night though Wednesday afternoon which is unusually long. Could be snow followed by some major icing.
Looks like Texas will be experiencing some very cold conditions.
Here in Kansas City, the models are predicting 16"-20" of snow, with a layer of freezing rain ahead of the snow. The TV meteorologists are going with 8"-13", which is still more than enough to paralyze the city. By the way, 20" is about the average snowfall for an entire winter here.
Unfortunately, working in TV, I don't have the option of calling in sick during a snowstorm. During the last snowstorm, I was the only driver on I-35 for a two-mile stretch.
I want it to be as bad as possible (without injuries). I hate winter but I don't even care anymore, the damage is done lol, keep it coming. It's almost over anyways.
We're already so far above our average snowfall which can be expected somewhere that averages a relatively low amount of snow (about 20 inches), it can be well below that or way above that, the slightest uptick can make it look crazier than it really is. This is still an odd winter though, very crazy.
