Stay safe everyone, it is crazy out there! Storm has moved away from us, but the wind is still howling.
Funny, looks bright towards the lake, sun is trying to come out. I can't see lake from here, if I open my door I can hear it. Unfortunately, my driveway isn't done yet so I can't drive down there, too cold to walk even 6 blocks.
According to the news, very ugly south of here, roads closed, we were northern edge of this storm so snow totals, impact not as great here, but out in rural areas of the county, high drifts, lots of issues.
Are North American winter storms usually this big in scale? Only the places affected seem to be so far apart...
This storm was huge. It is equal to a snow storm hitting almost of all of Europe. Most of the news reports only mention our large and medium sized cities, that is why the storm seems to be so far apart, but in reality the storm was huge and hit multiple states at the same time while it was moving.

So many roads and schools closed here. Ice everywhere, about .25"-.5" thick in places. A truly rare weather event for S. Texas! Even the roads in Brownsville are closed due to icing!
Yes. You guys get a little snow and it shuts down for days.
We get two feet and have to go on with our lives. -_-
Again, its a very rare thing for us to get this. On the flip side of the coin, you guys get a few days in the high 90s, and it makes national news, with all the heat related deaths, people whining and complaining, certain things shutting down. While here, we just go on with our lives. Ironic.
100s is when it becomes dangerous
Last time that happened was in the mid19 90s
