Really want a Harris Teeter or Wegmans? Get your elected officials to redo the comp plan, zoning ordinances, tax structure, public school system and wait a few years. Simple!
All true, still think a Wegman's would clean up in La Plata but it's probably a density issue.

I think Southern Maryland is still perceived as poor. Which is obviously far from the truth.

Wow......It is that serious down there? Wegmans, which is based about an hour and 20 minutes from me, has a range of stores in Upstate NY in terms of size and that is due to older locations being "grandfathered" in.

What could be nice is if a small city or suburb with walkability could put one in its Downtown like this location in Auburn NY: https://goo.gl/maps/Aa8bUeV9cBP2

I do think this too and I live here. I live in White Plains, in a $500k house, in a neighborhood of $500k houses, full of people working for the govt and contractors who are all middle to upper class. We're just one of many neighborhoods like this.

But, parts of the area are still very poor and I think that reputation lives on.
However, one of these stores would do very well in Charles County (or so we think). I know I'd be there, along with all my neighbors.

There is a MOM's Organic Market in Waldorf, not sure how good they are. The others I have been in were good, sort of like Trader Joe's.
