OMG - yet another black mark against our move to the Wilmington area! We currently live in the north ATL suburbs, and our Whole Foods and Trader Joes just opened within months of each other - what, oh what will we do for food!!

I'm flying up there tomorrow for a face to face, and will then be meeting up with a real estate agent. Total bummer trying to find any houses I like.

I was trying to figure out a way to send the agent up there a link to a house similar to mine that is down here. When I was looking through the supply, I got depressed all over again. Big difference in housing here vs. up there, and not for the better.

Our 16 year old is already whining (what else is new), except this time it is about her not moving up there. I don't see many options, but hey, I'm not 16!

Well, in less than 24 hrs. I'll see Wilmington up close and personal, and then I'll take everything I've read here, and have seen on the internet and try to digest it all with my husband and see what we do.

Thanks y'all!

I sold a house in NH for $239K. That house in sussex county in $400+ and over $500K if you get within a few miles of the shore. That same house in TN just north of Nashville can be bought for around $150K. My choices were TN and DE. I chose DE because of a business deal that turned out to not be such a good deal. I'm not complaing too hard though...things are working out OK and I like living on the water.

Default WHAT - No trader joes

OK, I've been talked down off the ledge! 19803 is the same zip as the hospital - so I can multi-task!

The trader joes mentioned does not sell wine or beer. It is ok but its nothing to write home about. The nearest great supermarket is in downingtown pa, Wegmans. The shop rite is ok better than most for good deli and ethnic foods.
Delaware is a culinary BLACK HOLE.

You can drive out of Delaware along 202 and get to the wegmans in 35 mins it is so worth the trip. They are open 24 hours so you can go late at night and miss all the traffic in Downingtown.

You will be pleasantly surprised with Wegmans, especially if you've never shopped at one. While its no Trader Joe's, its one of the best supermarket shopping experiences around -- based in Rochester and expanding on the East Coast.
