Congrats Burlington... 100"+ Club.

Top 30 Season Snowfall Departures for all NWS Climo Sites. Some big moves past 2 weeks!

  • Binghamton still holding 1st place being 55" above norm
  • Gray Maine huge move getting 16 inches of snow past 8 days puts them at 3rd spot now 43" above normal! 123" for the season. Wow
  • Portland Maine also a big move getting almost a foot of snow last 2 days now 3 feet above normal. 95.3" for the season! (normal is 59.3"!)
  • Burlington, VT also a big move. They are in the 100"+ season snowfall club... 2 feet above normal.
  • Lastly.... Hartford, Bridgeport, Islip, Concord, Worcester & Syracuse also in the Top 30 highest snowfall departures.
A snowy season it was. Notice no central U.S or Midwestern Sites on the list. Mostly West and Northeast. Interesting!

The last time Burlington, VT had 100"+ season was 2010-11.

Only 9 times since 1892 have they done that. This year makes it 10 out of 125yrs.

Looks like February and March 2017 did it with 30"+ months. Wow what a comeback

Next week. https://www.city-data.com/forum/47720194-post1820.html

This week too but next week you might love it. I think we are done with the below normal pattern. Maybe we'll slowly enter the well above normal pattern soon again

From NWS Burlington Discussion

Quote:
National Weather Service Burlington VT
Issued by National Weather Service ALBANY NY
133 PM EDT Wed Apr 5 2017

On Sunday, temperatures will warm as the ridge of high pressure
at the surface shifts eastward, putting the North Country in
return flow. Expect dry conditions and mostly clear skies with
925mb temps around 7C-10C resulting in max surface temps in the
50s. From this point on, 00Z GFS and ECMWF looks to differ on
timing of ridging aloft and surface warm front/vorticity aloft.
GFS brings vort embedded in 500mb flow across the North Country
Sunday night producing rain showers, while ECMWF is on the drier
side as the vort appears much weaker.

925mb temperatures continue to increase on Monday, reaching the
mid teens as ridging aloft crests over the region. Even with
increasing clouds from approaching mid level trough, expect
surface temperatures to warm into the 60s Monday.
WAA continues
into Tuesday, ahead of cold front associated with the midlevel
trough. Models have timing/track differences with the surface
low associated with the trough and the approaching cold front.
At this point in time, expect Tuesday to be the warmest day with
some areas seeing upper 60s to low 70s.
Cold front expected to
move across the region sometime Tuesday into Wednesday.
