Southern Plains. You'd be contented, pleased, even joyful if you saw it in your rear view mirror.

Another hint: Big state. Really big. Like a whole other country.

It's Happy, Texas, home of the Happy State Bank which has many branches in The High Plains of Texas, on I-27 between Amarillo and Lubbock. What gave it away, other than the allusions to ecstatic, joyful, glad, and other adjectives? (I was going to next hint that Pharrell Williams wasn't thinking of this place as a he wrote a recent famous song.)

While Christopher Columbus did reach the shores of South America, he was originally looking to the find the shores of the country this city is located.

That would have been India, so looking at Google Maps, let's say Bengaluru (it's definitely not Mumbai)

Correct!

While many cities changed their official names away from their English names (Bombay to Mumbai, Calcutta to Kolkata, Madras to Chennai), a lot of the Southern Indian cities still go by their old name despite the official name changes (Chennai being the major exception). Bangalore (Bangaluru) is still mostly known to locals as Bangalore. Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) is still mostly referred to as Trivandrum, and Cochin (Kochi) is still mostly known as Cochin. In Cochin's case, typically referring to "Kochi" is typically only referring to the original area around the old Fort and doesn't include the rest of the area. The metro area is still called the Greater Cochin area and most civic names still refer to the area as Cochin.

You're up next.
