Yeah, that's what I wanna know. 24 hrs/wk volunteering, 16 hrs/wk job hunting, I guess. GA has 10% unemployment rate - or is plainly saying there are no jobs, don't bother looking.

Georgia also has a work program for people on UI. They train people at various industries then they can get hired or let go at the end. Again, there is little time for job-hunting.
Not to be negative but on the surface it sounds like a pool of cheap slave labor for local businesses.

And the UI rate has dropped per the latest numbers...so, do we think they will really push for an extension??

These are seasonal job numbers. I think it dropped last year as well. I'm curious as to what the numbers will be after January.

Guy on CNBC said this morning that number was based on household surveys - which are notoriously unreliable.

Default Payroll Tax Cut Plans Fails

Both plans failed today. This includes plans for a UI extension.

Actually they failed last night as expected they would. I do expect it to pass as one bill with some compromises on both sides but not till the 11th hour as usual.

Agreed. Those numbers are also based on job seekers. It doesn't include the people that have literally given up looking for work out of 3 years of frustration, or folks that have become or attempting to become self employed.

Like I said, I want to see the data in Jan and Feb. Looking at the graph, the trend has been a rise for the past 3 years.

I'm also curious, how many of those 120,000 jobs created were part time work with those same people still collecting unemployment.

This is good news for the unemployed in Texas...
