If I remember right we went through the same thing last year wondering if they will extend and they did. We know this year they know it has to be done but it would have been nice for those folks about to lose their benefits to know they weren't going to be flat broke after Christmas.
Looks like more political posturing. Nobody really wants to pass the Unemployment Extension.
..guess that they don't, but if nothing gets done about it..there's just so many people that need it. Some people can't even get food stamps just because there's another person living in the same house as them or such:/.
-keep hope though.
A reporter from Washington just reported on an Atlanta news station that Reid is not interested in opening up anymore discussions about the extensions and that most of the senators had already gone home....
That's old news from last Saturday I believe. So far any news reports we read are just redundant and speculation. The only news with any substance will come after the vote today. Right now I'm watching CNBC ....

No, sorry...this was at 12:00 noon today from a reporter at the White House...
I am hoping that all this is political posturing too...and that the two sides will reach some sort of agreement before the end of the month. It looks like both sides just want to "look good" in regards to the elections next year by blaming each other.
Top Senate Dem insists on 2-month payroll tax cut
December 19, 2011
Atlanta Journal Constitution
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the Senate won't renegotiate a bill extending payroll tax cuts and unemployment coverage unless the House first approves a short-term bipartisan version that House Republicans strongly oppose.
Boehner, R-Ohio, said he had not changed his view on the Senate bill.
"I raised concerns about the two-month process from the moment I heard about it," he said.
He called on members of the Senate to "put their vacations on hold" and return to forge a compromise.
There are people (green card holders) that can not be eligible for food stamps or welfare because they are not US citizens yet. Good people who paid a lot of taxes when they been employed. Not extending benefits will say something very simple: Die from hunger or leave USA.
