Unfortunately no real surprise. But REALLY bad news for Tyler's future. IMHO, likely no airline will try "TYLER" for the next few decades. Seriously, I think there was not enough of promotion of how residents could use Denver as a hub to the West Coast, no need to fly out of DFW. And it would have been much cheaper.

Passengers were coming as far a Shreveport to use Tyler to Denver. Advertising should have been much wider, not sure why this was not tried?

Surprised, to be happening now.

I thought the "push" would still be decades off. I could see this in the works, but much sooner "drive" for this than I thought.

Great plans for the future.

It looks like this will happen. Wow. Yet, a city with practically no air service? Great airport, modern updated, newer runways, extended, blah, blah, blah, but no one comes to the "party". lol Surely, the airport will get some type of service to Houston and Austin. I told, can't prove it, that the medical community NOW in Tyler, E.T. & TMF, use private charters for their employees. I have seen a large number, of what it looks like is rent cars, at the Old Airport, where the charter activity is headquartered, sure they use the current runways, of Pounds Field, can't believe we had the first option on renaming the Regional Airport here to East Texas Regional, but Tyler said no, Longview said great, we say yes, and they did away of the less prestigious name of Gregg County Airport, again, Tyler opted to stick with Pounds Field, from WWII, hero, Pounds, Ok, I guess? yes and no.

Dang, I hate to poo poo a report. When "the rest of the story" is not reported. The report only SAID researched areas. The "big" question, yes, tops in researched city, but what was the ranking of cities that residents, after researching, did they actually MOVE to, not LOOK into moving to. Would Tyler still be the number one spot actually MOVED to? I think I would be shocked. Maybe, the top city moved to in Texas. But, that would be likely only if they were NOT looking for work or a job. Not, here except maybe medical.

I could put the numbers up, showing the slowing down of actual growth in Tyler over the last 5 years, but I've done that 2 or 3 times in the last year alone. Tyler is slowed to a growth of about 900-1,000 per year, that's a NET growth, incoming over outgoing folks. Tyler used to be growing 1,200 to 1,500 per year.

Before you point out, but, but, but outside the city limits, THAT's where the growth. Partly, outside the city, but in the metro, which, for Tyler is Smith County. Yes, the county is growing about, 1,600 to 1,800 per year.

Actually, the last, 4 years have been a steady increase for the county over the first half of this decade. Tyler, inside city growth, the slowdown has been primarily because, lots/land for homes to be built on, for the price range there is a demand for, is not available in the city.

I've already explained the "why not" of no land/lots available to build on. So I won't explain again, for the whatever number of times, why? If anyone new cares they can email me directly, and I will explain.
