I missed most of the episode, only saw the last half hour. Not one person stood out to me. Season really bad.

Ughhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a disappointing season and a complete waste of my time!!!

Where did this "dead mother" shtick come from??? Before watching this fiasco of a finale, we never heard anything about a dead mother or that he was doing this "not for himself, but for his mother". The whole thing is just total BS!!!

So, I guess consistency and having never been put up for elimination means nothing. You can have one not-so-great service - mostly Krupa's fault - and that's all that matters. Your past excellent history means nothing. Well, as GR would say ........ "F### Me"!!!!!

Forgive me, but I'm a little wigged out right now.

So glad I never have to look at or hear Elise's voice ever again!!! Is she a whiny little crybaby b*tch or what??? Every single time GR put the smack down on her ass she started blubbering and crying like a baby. Not very professional, and I think she cut her own throat on this show by being such a b*tch. Who in their right mind, after seeing her on this show, would ever want to hire her?

And ... what the hell was that all about - when she said something about beating Carrie up after the show? She's so friggin' ghetto! I bet her whipped husband sleeps with one eye open. You never know when that psycho b*tch is gonna slit your throat or stab you when you're sleeping.

It sure seemed to me like Elise was trying to sabotage Paul when she started her drama BS again over the spinach with pasta pieces in it. Then she was getting into it with the hick. It was almost a redneck smackdown!

And Tommy! Why not just throw your babe up on that table and do the nasty with her right there in front of mom???!!! Geez! I thought HK was gonna turn ino PK (Porno Kitchen)! Why on earth would a pretty YOUNG girl like her go with a guy like him??? Well, I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Did you cows see Elizabeth's face? What's with all the grimacing??? She looks weird!

Well, donkeys ... we never heard GR call anyone a donkey or a cow this season - that's one big reason why this season sucked. I'm over it for now, but I know when the next season starts I'll be right there watching it and commenting like a damn fool. Hopefully next season will be "normal" and a contestant will actually be able to win or stay on the show because he or she has talent and skill, and not just because they are a big mouth ghetto drama queen, or play on our sympathies with some dead relative or similar sad story.

That's all for now. Tired. Must ... Get ... Sleep!!! I might come back tomorrow with more thoughts and rants and raves. For the time being ... it's been real! Peace out, peeps!

(heart) Twink.

I too was very bothered by the lack of namecalling by Ramsey this season. He needs to return to his roots that way. People are counting on him.

I know!!! We need more name calling, more plate throwing, more kicking the trash can, more smashing of fish ... we just need ....... MORE!!! If we wanted to see kind and gentle we'd all be watching those Catholic channels - you know the ones ... when you're flipping through the channels and you see the closeups of same priests or nuns just talking - every time you see them? I mean, I'm sure they are very nice folks with good, kind things to say, but ... we wanna be screamed at, talked down to, and called names!!!

This season, although packed with drama, was the single WORST season yet! Will was robbed!!! But I think that any restauranteurs who may have been watching the show this season, seeing Will, and the fact that he didn't win and should have, will jump at the chance to hire him in their restaurant. I couldn't imagine a 5-star restaurant NOT jumping at the chance to pick up a Hell's Kitchen finalist - Top Two!!! - who not only has excellent chef/cooking skills, but is even-tempered, gets along with everybody, can command a kitchen staff, be firm when he needs to be, but without being an *****hole. The guy is a gem!!!

Elise, on the other hand ... not so much.

One thing I'm kind of baffled about is ... after Jennifer poured out her heart and soul to Paul, was embarrassed about it and all, why he decided to act like a total dick toward her?! I mean, that one episode after she told him he was "hot", or that she had the "hots for him", then he and Will were at that restaurant with the female chef and Paul was flirting with her and then came back and rubbed it in Jen's face. From then on, he just proceeded to treat Jen like crap, and then of course, he didn't pick her for his team for the finale. I just think that's kind of mean. He doesn't have to reciprocate the sentiments, but he could have at least been nice to her. It kind of took some balls for her to get the courage to tell him her thoughts, even if it was weird and awkward.

Okay, I gotta get over it - I have work to do and this ... THIS ... is what I'm thinking about and dwelling on!!!!!!!

Here I am ... 8 days late! I had to go on hiatus due to Hulu's new 8-day waiting period for new episodes. I have missed you guys for the entire second half of the season.

So ... I actually disagree on the idea that this was the worst season. I think it started off weak, but got better once they weeded through a lot of the donkeys.

Will should have won, but Paul is not a bad choice. In fact, after the last service, I suspected he would win . CharlotteGal already said it, but I think Chef Ramsay looks for himself in the "winners" and that's why he chose Paul over Will.

Will was a great cook. He was solid every service. He was vocal. He was a great leader. But he didn't show his emotions as much as Paul --- and Ramsay likes emotion. So, while I don't have much of a problem with Paul as the winner, I would partly credit it to Ramsay's own biases.

Ramsay's biases are probably to blame for Elise making it all the way to the final three, as well. Elise was good at communicating in the kitchen, but I think Ramsay often mistakes that for "leadership". A good leader needs to be able to communicate, but there's more to it than that. I'd say a good leader is competent, willing to teach others, honest in their communication, and looking out for the well-being of their team. Elise clearly lacked the latter three qualities.

Overall, I think Will was one of the best "leaders" in the show's history and that counts a lot to me. He was also very ethical and I think it's much easier to work for a guy like that; not to mention much easier to trust a guy like that to run your restaurant. So those are some of the reasons I would have picked him over Paul.

Other thoughts ...

Tommy was "most improved." Tommy was the most creative of the bunch, and he knew how to cook, but he struggled in the kitchen at times. I get the sense that he's never really been challenged much and has mostly been surrounded by people who have much weaker skills. Once he was in HK and had good people there competing with him, he started learning a bunch.

Jennifer was good; but she had an ugly mean streak. I waived it off at first, due to how annoying Elise was (who wouldn't want to slap her across the head?); but I think it would manifest itself even without Elise.

I think both Will and Paul are better than the previous two winners, Nona and Holli. I almost feel as if both Nona and Holli won because (a) they were good, but not great, (b) their competition had major character flaws, and (c) they had more "upside" than some others. I mean, really ... there is no way in hell I would trust Russell last season, even if he was "more qualified" than Nona. I wasn't too keen on Jay, either.

I agree.

I saw it as a sign of his immaturity. He's 27 years old, but I got the sense that he hasn't fully grown up yet. He was afraid to confront the issue, so he tried to 'avoid' her and passive-aggressively try to express his lack of interest. That's not the right way to go about it when you're an adult.

I thought Paul was a good chef and I think he has some potential, but that's actually one of the reason I viewed Will as better. Will was definitely was the more mature of the two.

Absolutely! In fact, I'd go so far as to say that of all the Hell's Kitchen contestants, I would put Will in my top three if I were starting a restaurant. I don't think he'll ever be a famous fine dining chef, but I would pick him over most people to run a restaurant. He clearly has management skills that a lot of the other contestants simply lack. You could trust him to run something for you, and not have to worry about losing sleep over your restaurant having a melt-down.

We're catching up on this via DVD from Netflix (we just started season 5, and season 6 comes out next month -- watching Gordon and JP dressed up as sumo wrestlers was hysterical), and watching season 8 in repeats on the Fox station out of Orlando. The new guy has nothing on Jean-Philippe -- I want the Belgian donut back!

When does Season 9 start, anyway?

The best thing about the DVDs is -- they're not censored.

The worst thing about the DVDs is -- they're not censored, and I have to shut the door to the room where our parrots are so my African Grey doesn't pick up any of Gordon's vocabulary. And she learns new words very quickly.

Oh yes they do, especially the bad ones! I had to stop letting my next door neighbor come over because my parrot learned the F word right away from her!

I would be aghast at watching DVDs of Gordon Ramsey!!!
