It seems like alot of people on here who either don't like or don't understand them, say the choices the Duggars have made are wrong, but for them obviously it works. It is very refreshing to see responsible, respectful and well behaved kids in today's society. And equally refreshing to see a couple who seems to be very much in love. I
I can understand that. I didn't notice that any of them had perms... I think their hair just grows differently. I have super curly hair naturally and my sisters is stick straight. My hair is red, her's is dark brown.

I think the Duggar's made choices that were right for their family, which is commendable. I don't dislike them or their way of life, but I would definitely not choose that for myself or my family. And there are pleny of responsible, respectful and well behaved kids in society, you just never notice them because they don't stand out as much as the crazy disrespectful ones.

My parents have bee together for 31 years, married for 26 and are still very much in love...but they don' sit and gaze at each other in wonder. Everyone shows love differently

There was an episode that featured the girls perming their hair. Months later I think they said they wanted a change.

I think they would all benefit from a professional stylist/makeover.

Maybe they do, and the fact that they haven't been exposed to things does not make it ok. Besides, they do see people on the outside, and their cousin. It's not like they don't have an idea that not all girls look like they do, and not all sisters dress and look just alike. Once someone asked why they all have long hair and the answer was "our dad likes long hair." That is just weird to me.

I don't think they need a professional stylist or makeover. I don't think any teen needs that. I just think they should be able to see a hair style or clothing style on TV and be able to say "I like that. I'm going to try it." I've said on these various Dugger threads that it is none of my business how they live. I respect their right to choose their lifestyle. I just think it does the girls a disservice in several ways.

edit: I'm looking at their web site and Josh and Anna's baby is due any day now.

I think we should give them some respect that they should be allowed to make choices in their life just as we would like to be allowed to make choices in our lives.

It is the parent's choice, not the kids. that is my point.

Yes how on earth would you know? I also think it would be normal for a parent to enforce some sort of dress code on a child in fact I think it would be appropriate. If the parent doesn't teach the child how else does the child know. This is why I have kids and even adults thinking it is totally normal to shop in slippers and PJ's because nobody every taught them it isn't right

of course I don't know for sure. And of course parents should set limits. I'm not saying they shouldn't. I'm just saying there doesn't seem to be ANY room for self expression in that family. You have to admit that! That is obvious. Read my previous posts. I'm not advocating for "anything goes" or piercings, or tattoos. I just think it is stifling that they all think they need to dress and do their hair just alike "because their dad likes it that way." It's unhealthy IMO.
