Really, I think after seeing 1883, any actor would beg to be in 1932 for free.

Taylor Sheridan is an extremely hot commodity in Hollywood right now. And TV isn't what it once was. All the quality writing (and thus quality roles) are now on television. The movies are largely eye candy. Actors recognize that. Thirty years ago you never would have seen big name actors like Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, or Glen Close on television series. Now they want it, because they recognize quality when they see it.

Helen Mirren did the Jane Tennyson series for BBC/Masterpiece
But I agree that it is more difficult to get a movie together than a series it seems

And they recognize where the viewers are--and that the target audience for big budget movies these days, adolescent males, have never heard of them...

Interesting news about 1883 here:

While Season 2 of 1883 has not been officialized, Paramount already confirmed it’s determined to produce more content following the same characters.
Yay! So maybe we will get to see those historic flashback scenes from Yellowstone (Dutton as a sheriff, etc.) in S2?

The rest of the article is about 6666, and I'll post that in the Yellowstone thread. See ya there!

We saw a scene from 1883 on Yellowstone in which, James made a “Live and let live” pact with the Indians. This scene was not in 1883, so I assume there will be some crossovers here and there.

One of the reasons YELLOWSTONE has such a high reputation for quality is Taylor Sheridan's involvement. I worry that there being 4, 5, 6, 7+ shows in the YELLOWSTONE universe is going to hurt quality. The guy does need to sleep occasionally, which means a lot of the creative decisions will be left to other people.

So is 1923 pretty much season 2 of 1883?

Kind of - theres a pretty big gap, and the narration (heavily discussed in this thread) helps connect the dots if you didnt watch 1883.
