I was one of those people who thought this was a terrible game, morally. It stands for everything I, personally, am against. Especially Richard Hatch. I found I did enjoy the game though. I put aside my personal beliefs and just enjoyed the shows. I completely "fell in love" with Rupert when he stole all the shoes!! I was now a Survivor fanatic. Then WHO was Russell Hantz's ONLY supporter here??? Moi. I saw "Dreamy Eyes'" game play as brilliant. It is still too bad he never won, he IS the greatest Survivor player to date, IMO.
I do think Russell was robbed his first season. I think he definitely should have won that season. But I disagree that he's the greatest player because he couldn't figure out the social aspect of it. I did love him his first season. Gotta remember too that it was unprecedented at that time to find hidden idols without a clue. And he found 3! Now it's expected for them to find idols without a clue.
Tammerz, for sure, no one will ever accuse you of being afraid to take an unpopular position. I respect that, even if I don't respect Russhole.
Outside of the game, I have absolutely no respect for him.

Yes, I concede he couldn't figure out the social aspect of the game but other than that, greatest to ever play. You appreciated his game play too? Where were you when I was getting shi*t every time I posted?? Jax and 2 or 3 others stood up for my opinions back then. Them I appreciate.
The issue there is the idea that being a jerk and playing the game are somehow mutually exclusive. In my eyes, there is very much such a thing as playing the game like a jerk. Is it an effective way to play? We learn that on finale night, in my opinion. I am of the opinion that the winner always deserves it, with the exception of freak injuries that get people medevacked. Most people do not agree with me on that.
The question most people have an opinion about: is it morally justifiable to play the game like a jerk? Depends on one's morals. Some don't even think it's moral to have shows like this (though probably not many in this forum). Most people, it seems, think that breaking your word and betraying your allies is okay in the game, and I'm not sure where one draws the morality line if one truly considers that situationally okay. Some think it's morally okay to laze around and let other people fend for you. Some think it's morally okay to throw a challenge to get rid of a teammate.
As for me, when you sign on for this, you sign on for production, fellow contestants, and Mother Nature to treat you abominably. The first two, at least, have motives and goals. The third will do it just because it happens to be time.
It is a game and hopefully all have done enough research to know what they are getting in for. They "bad guys" are doing what they feel they have to in order to win the big bucks. I may hate the person that won but they are the one getting the check.

lol I wasn't on this forum back when he first played. I liked him in Samoa and Heroes vs Villains, though I thought Parvati got robbed of that win. I didn't like him as much on Redemption Island but he didn't last long. I do have him in my top 10 greatest Survivor players, though.
I still think they should bring back all the villains to play in a season of Survivor Ruthless!

Yeah, it would be nice if they started hiding the idols a little better now. Bury it 4 or 5 feet deep or something.

I'd probably throw Mike in there too. He was a great competitor and a smart player. And I think around other ruthless people, he could get ruthless right there with him. But he has the ability to play both sides of the game I think. He's up there for one of my all time greatest.
